The text is organized into chapters that guide the reader from the basics of patient-pharmacist interactions and decision-making to more complex topics such as collaborative agreements, therapeutic care plans, and documentation through progress notes. The organizational flow is logical and topics are easily distinguished, supplemented by quick references, when needed. Developing Clinical Practice Skills for Pharmacists is much easier to read than most scientific textbooks. It does an excellent job of highlighting the importance of each topic to current practice. The practical situations presented and followed throughout the book enhance application of content. Multiple examples of charts, progress notes, and other visual aids are presented and could serve as valuable teaching aids and resources during didactic and experiential learning, as well as in practice. Perhaps the greatest value of this book is the infusion of empathy and caring throughout, characteristics critical to, but not necessarily emphasized within, the curriculum for many pharmacy students.
